Stick to your day job: Mechanic charged with attempted robbery of Chinese tourist


KUALA LUMPUR (10/12/2016) : A mechanic who failed in his bid to snatch a Chinese tourist’s handbag at the National Monument (Tugu Negara) was hauled to the Sessions court here today. 

Mohamad Asyraf Mohd Shah, 21, pleaded not guilty to the offence before Judge Rohatul Akmar Abdullah. 

He was charged with attempting to snatch Wu Ronghua's handbag while she was visiting the national monument at Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin, Dang Wangi, at 4.20pm on Dec 3 this year. 

In pleading for minimum bail, Asyraf's counsel, P. Muniswer, said his client is taking care of and supporting his parents. 

Rohatul allowed for RM7,000 bail with one surety, and ordered the accused to stay away from the victim and prosecution witnesses.

 She fixed Dec 23 for mention. Deputy public prosecutor Wan Shahida Wan Omar prosecuted.
