Manhunt launched for two robbers following Inanam convenience store robbery

 

KOTA KINABALU (21/12/2016): Police are hunting for two robbers following the arrests of their two accomplices linked to at least five burglary cases here and in Keningau. 

 
The two accomplices, aged 26 and 36, were apprehended by police at Taman Puri Warisan in Inanam this morning, following an armed robbery case at a 24-hour convenience store at Menggatal on Friday.
 
 Four men had entered the store at 5.39am armed with a parang. They escaped with almost RM800 cash and two mobile phones, with losses totaling RM3,000. 
 
“Following the incident, police from the district Criminal Investigation Department raided a house at Taman Puri Warisan and arrested the two at 1.40am today. 
 
“One of the policemen was injured following a scuffle with one of the suspects,” he said, adding that police seized a number of items from the suspects. 
 
Both suspects tested positive for drugs and had criminal records.
 
 “We believe the suspects were involved in at least five other burglary cases between November 12 to 22 in Menggatal, Inanam and Keningau,” said district police chief Assistant Commissioner M. 
 
Chandra. The suspects are being remanded under Section 395/397 for armed robbery and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
